Softball falls to Mississippi State 4-3

After winning both games yesterday against Mississippi State the Bulldogs bounced back on Saturday March 30 to claim the series finale 4-3 against the Tigers.

In both games yesterday Auburn had to rally to get the victory, but today they were the ones trying to stop a rally.

Auburn was leading 3-1 going into the seventh inning, but Sam Lenahan tied the game with a two-run homerun that cleared the wall in right field.

Brittany Bell then ended the game when her high fly ball to center dropped in front of a diving Tiffany Howard and rolled, which allowed Phillips to score the game winning run.

"This was a disappointing loss," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "We looked like we were going to close it out, but they got the big home run and took momentum. We've got to regroup and learn from this and moved forward."

Auburn will return to action on Friday April 5 against Ole Miss at Jane B. Moore Field.
