Blanche Alverson scored a career-high 32 points on Senior Day at Auburn Arena and helped the Tigers to a 74-65 victory over Mississippi State in the final regular season game of the year.

The win secured the No. 11 seed in the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament. Auburn's first action will be against LSU at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

"We played a great first half and came out at the beginning of the second half acting like we already had the game won," Auburn coach Terri Williams-Flournoy said. "We called a few timeouts and got ourselves situated back again. Even in the mistakes that we made, we didn't just put our heads down. We went back out when we needed to make a play, be it offensively or defensively, we went out and we did it."

Alverson's 32 points put her at 22nd all-time in Auburn career scoring.

Tyrese Tanner contributed to the victory with 19 points and four steals, and Najat Ouardad added eight assists and five steals.

The women's basketball team finished the regular season with a 16-13 (5-11 SEC) record.
