Women's golf finishes tied for ninth

Auburn women's golf finished tied for ninth at the Bryan National Collegiate after posting a score of 30-over 894.

Junior Marta Sanza finished in the top 10 for the third time this season, finishing with a 3-over 219 in the tournament.

"We improved at this tournament," head coach Kim Evans said. "Diana had a great breakthrough, and Marta was back with a chance to win today. We will build on this as we prepare for the SEC Championship."

Junior Diana Fernandez scored a 7-over 79 in the last round and her overall score of 8-over 224 was good for 32nd-place tie.

Virginia took first place at the tournament at the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center Champions Course, and hosted by Wake Forest and North Carolina-Greensboro.

Five SEC schools - Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina - finished ahead of Auburn.

Auburn returns to action in the SEC Championship in Birmingham on April 19 at the Greystone Golf Club.
