Baseball clinches series win

Hot bats helped Auburn baseball clinch its first SEC series Saturday, April 6 with a win over Texas A&M 10-5.

A five-run third inning gave the Tigers the early lead after back to back opening homeruns by Garrett Cooper and Cullen Wacker. Immediately after a two run hit by Blake Austin made it 5-0.

"It's good to win this game today, obviously for a lot of reasons; the main reason is the confidence continues to build. There is a little change in the air, so-to-speak, going on around our ball club right now," Auburn Head Coach John Pawlowski said. "What we did offensively was a tremendous sign. We got some balls up in the wind and we hit some balls hard too."

Auburn increased their lead to 9-0 in the fourth inning by capitalizing on an Aggies error.

Starter Michael O'Neal pitched six innings and allowed three runs on six hits.

Auburn will look to get their first SEC sweep of the season Sunday, April 7 against Texas A&M at 1 p.m.
