No. 6 Texas A&M defeated Auburn 10-4 in the second game of the weekend series Saturday, March 14, at Blue Bell Park in College Station, Texas.
Center fielder Anfernee Grier finished 3-for-4 in his 10th multi-hit game of the season.
Auburn pitcher Rocky McCord took the loss. The senior allowed four runs, five hits, five walks and two strikeouts.
Cody Nulph and Blake Logan both recorded RBI base hits in the first inning to put the Tigers up 2-0, but the Aggies jumped in front 3-2 on a pair of RBI singles and a run-scoring groundout in the third.
Texas A&M tacked on three more runs in the fifth after Auburn left three runners stranded in the top of the inning.
The Aggies added their seventh run in the bottom of the seventh as the Tigers just missed a triple play as runner JB Moss slid under Logan’s glove and across the plate.
Logan Taylor knocked in two more Aggies with a bases-loaded single and A&M plated one more run on a sac fly by Moss in the eighth.
The Tigers added two more runs in the top of the ninth on RBI singles by pinch hitter Kyler Deese and Grier to make the final score 10-4.
The final game of the series will be played on Sunday, March 15, at 1:05 p.m. before the Tigers head to Birmingham to take on UAB Tuesday, March 17.
