Auburn softball’s early success continued into conference play this weekend, as the Tigers took their first SEC series of the year with their second straight win over Ole Miss on Sunday, March 15.
The Tigers wrapped up the series with a 7-3 win over the Rebels.
Auburn played long ball in the victory, with homeruns coming from Emily Carosone, Kasey Cooper, Carlee Wallace and Jade Rhodes. Six of the seven Tiger runs came from homers.
The winning pitcher on the day was Lexi Davis, who picked up her 12th win of the year. In the sixth inning, with Auburn up 5-0, David surrendered her shutout, giving up three runs. Rachael Walters stepped in and grabbed her second save of the season.
Auburn shored things up in the seventh inning, as Kasey Cooper sent her 10th homer of the season over the fence.
The win moves the Tigers to 28-2 overall, with a 2-0 mark in the SEC.
Game three of the series will be Monday, March 16, at 6 p.m., and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
