Tigers drop road game at Georgia Tech

Auburn baseball was defeated 4-1 by Georgia Tech Tuesday, March 24, at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Right-hander Rocky McCord picked up the loss and is now 1-2 on the season. The senior allowed two runs in six innings pitched, struck out five batters, walked two and gave up seven hits.

Auburn (15-10) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning after Kyler Deese hit a run-scoring single that brought Melvin Gray around third base to score.

Georgia Tech tied it up in the bottom of the fifth with a run-scoring double by Arden Pabst and took the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh.

The Yellow Jackets ran away with a 4-1 lead after AJ Murray hit a solo homerun off Auburn reliever Dalton Rentz and Wade Bailey drove another run across the plate in the eighth inning.

The Tigers will face the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a three-game series March 27-29 in Starkville, Mississippi.
