A spirit that is not afraid

Phi Mu wins 2015 Greek Sing

The Auburn University Panhellenic Society hosted Greek Sing on April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Auburn Arena. Phi Mu won first place at the event.

Sororities came together to compete in a dance competition to benefit Habitat for Humanity and Phi Mu came in first place.

Earkayla Thompson, freshman in communications, said she was there to see her cousin.

“I think it’s for a good cause,” Thompson said.

Supporters cheered as sororities performed their routines.

Susan Whatley said she was there supporting her daughter.

“I’m so proud that young people can find a way to mix fun with something that helps others,” Whatley said.

All ticket sale proceeds went to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Alicia Reed, mother of a dancer, was also supporting her daughter.

“It’s good Auburn has events like this,” Reed said.

Greek Sing organizers declined comment at this time.

Editor's Note: Jill Moore, director of Greek Life, denied any press passes to Greek Sing stating any other photographers, other than the one assigned by the University to cover the event, would be a safety hazard to the dancers. Panhellenic members also stated they were not allowed to comment when asked by The Plainsman reporter covering the event.
