The city of Auburn will have a sales tax holiday from Friday, Aug. 7-Sunday, Aug. 9. It will start at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 7 and end at midnight Aug. 9.
There are three main categories for tax exemption: clothing, computers and software and school supplies.
Clothing must cost $100 or less per article.
Computers and software must cost $750 or less and include computers, software and anything used by students to study.
School supplies must cost $50 or less.
Items not exempt include accessories such as handbags and jewelry, sports equipment, software designed for recreational use, magazines or other non-bound documents and protective equipment such as hard hats.
