Auburn Fire Units responded to a fire at Village West Apartments off of Richland Road on Saturday, August 8, at 4:00 p.m.
Four Auburn Fire Division units responded to the fire. The first arriving fire engine reported heavy smoke and fire visible upon arrival.
Residents also reported smoke from behind Building 3 before the its roof was engulfed in flames.
Charles Robinson and Christine Albritton have been living at the apartment complex for one week. The couple were in their car about to head to the store when Robinson looked in his review mirror and saw Building 3 engulfed in flames.
"[The fire spread] within second," Albritton said. "It was very fast. I almost thought it was going on some kind of accelerant because it was just going so fast."
The fire extended throughout the attic. A stop was made at the stairwell protecting the eight remaining apartments. Full containment and extinguishment was confirmed at 4:49 p.m.
No one was injured in the fire, according to the Auburn Police Division.
