Going into the 2015 season, Jonathan Wallace appears to be the third option at his old position at quarterback.

“Jonathan Wallace is taking some snaps at quarterback,” coach Gus Malzahn said on Saturday. “He’s still a wide receiver. We’re going to make sure we have a good plan [for] all the what-ifs later in the season if you have injuries.”

Wallace started four games at quarterback as a freshman in 2012 but was beat out for the starting job by Nick Marshall in 2013. The senior moved to wide receiver in the middle of the 2014 season and is still working there some, but Malzahn wants to be prepared for all situations.

“He is a guy that has played in game situations that does understand this offense,” Malzahn said. “He’s been doing at great job at receiver, too.”

Freshman Tyler Queen was slated to be the third quarterback, but the possibility of redshirting Queen has not been ruled out.
