How to do Tailgating in Auburn
How do you do your college game days? What better way to start them off then by having a fun tailgating experience. One way to ensure a fun tailgate is to have some good food. This Saturday, I went around Jordan-Hare Stadium before the Mississippi State v Auburn game to find out some of the most popular tailgating foods of the season.
The most popular meal on Saturday was definitely barbecue. One of the people that had barbecue at their tailgates this Saturday was Beth Lakefold. When asked what her favorite tailgate foods are she said that this Saturday, “I wanted to support the local community, so I purchased barbecue from Mike & Ed’s.” Lakefold was tailgating around Samford Hall and had a massive table with food for everyone to take a sample of. Lakefold was a part of the group, “Family and Tradition.” Lakefold described the group as, many people who switch off bringing food each Saturday for the community. Another interesting tailgating food was being made by Rod Pitts. This Saturday his tailgating entrée was, “Bean burgers with onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes on a toasted bun.” Other popular tailgating entrees are: hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken fingers.
Now for the appetizers. The most popular appetizer seen on Saturday was chips and dips. Gale Luke brought with her, “Taco soup and dips,” and Beth Lakefold brought, “Humus with chips, coleslaw and potato salad.” The most popular chips were Lays. Fruit was also a very popular item for tailgates.
Finally for the desserts, pound cakes and cookies were the most popular desserts seen around campus. Gale Luke said that her favorite dessert for tailgates is, “Chocolate pound cake.” Beth Lakefold also brought with her, “Chocolate chip cookies, white chocolate macadamia cookies, and fried pies.”
There are also loads of other fun ways to tailgate this fall. Some activities include corn hole, going to Toomer’s corner, and the Tiger Walk. The Tiger Walk usually starts 2 hours prior to kick-off at every home game on Donahue drive.
No matter what you do on Saturdays, there are plenty of ways to have fun. Whether you are tailgating under a tent with friends or family, going to Toomer’s corner, and/or going to watch The Tiger Walk it should be a great day.
