Myron Burton Jr., no longer with football team

Redshirt freshman wide receiver Myron Burton Jr. is no longer with the Auburn football team, coach Gus Malzahn announced on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

“Myron Burton is no longer on our team,” Malzahn said. “It was a mutual decision, and we wish him nothing but the best.”

Burton, son of former Auburn defensive lineman Myron Burton Sr., was a highly recruited player in the 2014 class after catching 53 passes for 773 yards and six touchdowns in his senior season at Peachtree Ridge High School.

The Lawrenceville, Georgia, native was redshirted in 2014 and captured the Offensive MVP award at this spring’s A-Day after catching seven passes for 124 yards and a touchdown.
