Auburn’s athletic teams will be decked out in Under Armour gear through 2025, according to a release from the University on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Under Armour will provide all practice and game day footwear, apparel and equipment for Auburn’s 21 athletic teams for the next nine years.
“As the first college program to sign a comprehensive all-sport apparel deal with Under Armour, we are thrilled to announce an extension with our apparel and footwear partner that achieves our goal of providing the best student-athlete experience in the nation,” athletics director Jay Jacobs said in the release. “We have always been impressed by Under Armour’s commitment to relentless innovation and excellent customer service. This extension elevates our valuable partnership and allows us to greatly expand the allotment of Under Armour products for Auburn student-athletes across all 21 sports. It also promotes and enhances the Auburn brand at a higher level while providing us the resources to reach our goal of competing for championships in every sport.”
Under Armour will pay Auburn an average of $8.68 million annually over the nine-year extension, which is the most lucrative in the SEC and top five in the nation.
Auburn was the first collegiate team to sign with Under Armour in 2007, and the athletics department has partnered with the brand since.
“Auburn has been one of our landmark relationships in the NCAA,” said Adam Peake, executive vice president of global marketing at Under Armour. “The Tigers are part of our brand’s heritage and we are thrilled to have them as an integral part of our future as we continue to provide world-class, innovative product to their student athletes and the entire Auburn fan base.”
The contract has a total value of $78.1 million, including $22.5 million in cash, $40.5 million in products and $10 million in stock. It is nearly twice as lucrative as the previous contract, which gave Auburn $36.5 million over 10 years.
The contract also requires Under Armour to provide four annual internships to Auburn student-athletes.
