Brandon Hughes to run for district attorney

Lee County District Attorney Robert Treese will have a challenger in the Republican primary election in March 2016.

Brandon Hughes, who was a prosecutor in Montgomery from 2002-06, will run for district attorney. Hughes started the Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor program in 2006, and has worked across the state for the past nine years.

Treese has served as district attorney since 2011. Treese previously worked as an assistant district attorney and chief assistant district attorney.

Treese is running for re-election.
