Auburn signed two junior college players on Wednesday, as quarterback John Franklin III and defensive end Paul James III officially inked their letters of intent to join the Tigers.
Franklin originally signed with Florida State out of high school, but transferred after seeing limited playing time in two seasons in Tallahassee. He spent last year at East Mississippi Community College before transferring to The Plains.
Franklin, who stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, comes to Auburn in hopes of taking over the starting quarterback job, which is in a state of flux following a carousel of Jeremy Johnson and Sean White in 2015.
The Tigers also welcomed James, who began his college career at Illinois before transferring to Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi. James registered 47 tackles during his season at CLCC and was named a National Junior College Athletic Association First Team All-American.
