Rising sophomore tight end Chris Laye announced his intentions to transfer from Auburn in a Facebook post on Saturday.
"I have chosen to leave the Auburn football program," Laye wrote. "I want to thank the people that helped me through the journey and the fans."
Laye was expected to compete with fellow sophomore Jalen Harris and true freshman Landon Rice for playing time this season.
He was rated a top-50 tight end by Scout and 247sports in the 2014 recruiting class.
Auburn is scheduled to begin spring practices on Tuesday, March 1.
