Equestrian defeats No. 5 Oklahoma State

Auburn's final ride of the day lifted the Tigers to a narrow win over No. 5 Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Friday.

The top-ranked Tigers edged the No. 5 Cowboys, 10-9, to improve to 10-1 on the season.

"The team rode great today, and I felt the scores were going to reflect that," said Auburn coach Greg Williams. "I'm so proud of the team for never slowing down the whole day."

Auburn jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in Equitation over Fences, sweeping the event for the second time this season. Elizabeth Benson, Caitlin Boyle and Hayley Iannotti each picked up their 10th win of the season on Fences.

Oklahoma State then stormed back, leaving Auburn with an 8-7 lead heading into Reining, the day's final event. The two teams were tied at nine with one ride left, and senior Griffin Knight clinched the match with a 67.5-64.5 victory in Reining.

Alexa Rivard picked up her first MOP of the season in Reining, and Ashley Foster captured her third of the year in Fences.

Auburn will conclude its regular season on Saturday at No. 7 Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas, at 10 a.m.
