48-year-old arrested for burglary and theft of property

The Auburn Police Division on Thursday arrested a 48-year-old on warrants charging him with third-degree burglary and theft of property.

Police arrested Curtis Van Holmes, from Auburn, on Jan. 5, police said Friday. The arrest was a result of an investigation into a burglary on March 25 at a Farmville Road convenience store.

At 2 a.m. on March 25, officers responded to a burglary in progress that originated from an alarm call at the business. When officers arrived, they discovered that someone had forced entry into the buildings, stealing alcohol and cigarettes, police said.

Holmes was later developed as a suspect after being captured on video and identified as the suspect responsible for committing the burglary, police said.

The Auburn Police arrested Holmes after he was released from the Macon County Jail on Thursday where he was being held on burglary and theft of property charges there.

Holmes is being held in the Lee County Jail on a $4,500 bond.
