Chad Collins started Friday morning's Barbasol Championship off at four-under. On Friday alone, Collins had 11 birdies and parred the rest of his holes leaving him heading into the weekend at 15-under.
"All in all it was a great day," Collins said while talking about being one shot shy of a sub-60 round.
Collins caught fire on the back nine, sinking six birdies in a row. The crowds started to form and he parred his final two holes of the day.
"I was excited and a little bit nervous at the same time," Collins said. "Hit a great shot on 17 but my putting ran out of steam.
"It was one of those days, I was striking it well, I was giving myself a lot of looks. Probably made a few putts I shouldn't have made. But all in all, you don't know days like this are coming. You just plan for the best and hope it's gonna be a good, and it was."
Collins now rides a secure lead into the weekend. Cameron Triangle, Grayson Murray, Brian Gay, and Tag Ridings trail after Friday.
