Auburn offensive lineman, Austin Golson, was named to the watch list for this season's Rimington Trophy on Tuesday morning. The award is given annually to the most outstanding center in college football.
It is uncertain if Golson will start at center for the Tigers in their season opener on Sept. 2, but has seen action in the position before. Last season, Golson started as Auburn's left tackle before moving to center.
The 6-foot-5 lineman is the lead candidate for center, but Auburn's fall camp could bring changes to a deep Tiger offensive line. Transfer center Casey Dunn will also be competing for the job. Dunn, who spent the past three seasons at Jacksonville State, is a two-time FCS All-American.
Golson is the fifth Tiger named to a watch list entering the 2017 season.
