Kick ass in athleisure

The days of t-shirts and shorts — at least in my opinion — have come and gone. As semi-adults, it's not longer acceptable to walk around in a tablecloth that covers your pants.

One way to still remain comfortable, though, is to rock the athleisure look. That's right, only in 2017 can you wear workout clothes that also double as a real-life outfit.

We've all seen the Instagram fitness models wear their leggins and t-shirts and look amazing, but did you know that you too can incorporate this comfy trend into your style? Here are some of the best ways to do it.

1. Joggers

Say goodbye to Nike shorts and ratty yoga pants, and say hello to sleek and stylish fitted joggers. Not only are joggers ridiculously comfy, but they can be worn in public with a flowy top and a jean jacket, creating the illusion of a dressed-up outfit.

Don't get me wrong, you can't wear joggers to a nice gathering, but as far as lunch, class and a get-together go, no one will know that you're basically wearing pajamas.

2. Leggins and sneakers

My favorite way to stay 100% comfy and cute is to wear workout leggings with sneakers, not tennis shoes. When you wear tennis shoes, you look like you're working out, but when you wear causal — or dressy — sneakers, you again create the illusion of a nicer outfit.

I'll pair workout leggins with sneakers, a cute top and jacket and walk around town like I own the place.

3. Jackets

If you don't own at least one jean jacket you need to go grab one right now, because the key to athlesuire is jackets. My favorite trick that I recommend to any gal out there trying to stay as comfy as possible is to wear whatever outfit you'd wear to the gym — leggins, tank top, racer back top, etc. — and just throw a jacket on top. Some of my favorites are my jean jacket, my fuzzy black bomber and my pink crop corduroy jacket.

The fun part about athleisure is that it is totally creative. You can wear really whatever you want and as long as you're confident and comfortable, you will look like a million bucks without feeling restricted by your clothing.
