With its paw-shaped hot tub, indoor track and rock climbing tower, the Auburn Recreation Center reigns as the greatest and most versatile gym without question.
The indoor track slithering the 240,000-square-foot facility is a favorite among members and gives the gym a theme park-like quality that is further enhanced by the tranquill Livingston courtyard — the axis of this fitness paradise.
The welcoming and kind staff make the gym an inviting place for exercise, and the janitorial staff do an excellent job at cleaning the facility, which is not an easy task considering the thousands of sweaty people going for a new max or faster mile time.
Activities are abundant with members having the option to play basketball, racquetball, soccer or virtual golf, all in a single day. The chance to connect with people through sport also makes the Rec a great place to start friendships that will turn into future teams to compete in the facility's intramural leagues.
The possibilities for exercise are plentiful, the staff is helpful and the equipment is reliable, so the Auburn Recreation Center is the rightful title-holder of best gym.
