CWE Tab: How to use the Tiger Transit

Whether you’re living off campus or in a dorm, Tiger Transit is your public method of transportation in Auburn.

With 20 total lines, Tiger Transit is an essential component to being an off-campus student. Fourteen lines begin and end at the Auburn University Student Center by Jordan-Hare Stadium, one begins and ends at Terrell Dining Hall and Auburn Hotel and three begin and end at the Mell Street Station by Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

In addition, tuition payments include fees associated with the transit. As long as you have valid student identification, you don’t need to worry about paying.

Even if you’re missing your student I.D., transit drivers will not ask to see it.

The transit operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you are stranded on campus after the last transit rolls off and you don’t have another ride, Tiger Transit offers a line from 6:15–10 p.m. that will drop you off at any off-campus location that they provide service for.

Internal lines — buses that only travel to on-campus stops — will run 10 to 15 minutes apart. Any external line will operate 15 to 30 minutes apart.

While you will be able to see where each line will take you at each stop, including the main Tiger Transit hub by the Student Center, you can also use the TransLoc app on your phone to track each line the transit offers. This app will also show you how full each bus is, when the next bus is going to show up and how long it will take to get to your next destination.

If you’re an on-campus student looking to get some groceries, the South College line on Mell Street will take you to Walmart. If you’re looking to check out the Auburn Mall or even stop by Cookout or Krispy Kreme, the north Auburn line at Mell will get you started.
