Auburn announces new changes coming to gameday

Starting in the 2018 season, Auburn Athletics has announced multiple modifications to a few facets of gamedays.

The Auburn gameday experience is one of the fine things that the campus has to offer, it is filled with excitement, tradition and football. Starting in the 2018 season, Auburn Athletics has announced multiple modifications to a few facets of gamedays.

Here are some of the new gameday changes:

Jordan-Hare Stadium/Gameday Weekend

  • Smoking inside Jordan-Hare Stadium will not be permitted.
  • The Home Plate Tailgate, located in the Plainsman Park parking lot will return in 2018. This season, admission is free.
  • The SEC’s Clear Bag Policy is in effect again this season. For fans that make it to the stadium area with an unauthorized bag, a bag check location will be available at Gate 0, Plainsman Park and Auburn Arena. Fans will be charged $5 to check an unauthorized bag.
  • Renovations to the stadium during the offseason have brought new gate entries for some patrons. Broadway Club members will enter at Gate 14, while Tiger Walk Club members may enter at the new southwest end zone entrance on Donahue Drive.
  • Gate 5 and Gate 18 remain the designated stroller and medical bag entries for patrons.
  • The BBVA Compass Locker Room Tours will take place on home game Fridays from 4-6pm CT. The tours will give a behind the scenes look at the new Harbert Family Recruiting Center.
  • Fans are encouraged to limit their use of glass on campus. The use of plastic and aluminum is encouraged to assist with Auburn’s recycling efforts.

Concessions and Merchandise

  • In an effort to expedite the customer transaction process, Auburn’s new food concessionaire, Aramark, has implemented a new point of sales system in all concession stands with credit/debit card machines at all locations.
  • Concessions will continue to offer a $2 bottle of 20 oz. water as well as a wide range of food and beverage options.
  • A new retail merchandiser, Dyehard Fan Supply, will offer a full line of Auburn merchandise in and around Jordan-Hare Stadium as well as online at auteamshop.com.

Parking and Traffic

  • Auburn has entered a new partnership with the Waze app with real-time street closures and information. Waze is the world's largest community-based traffic and navigation app. Auburn fans will be able to join other drivers in the Auburn area who share real-time traffic and road info, saving time on their drive to Auburn.
  • Limited season and single-game parking passes are available for purchase at parkingpanda.com
  • Wire Road between I-85 Exits 42 and 50 is closed for the 2018 season. Fans traveling on I-85 to Auburn from Montgomery should use Exit 50 or 51.
  • The sidewalks on College Street in front of the Auburn University Hotel will be closed due to construction of the new hotel parking deck.
  • Sidewalks and curbs on Thach Avenue south of Samford Hall will be closed due to road construction changes. The Ross Square parking lot remains free and open to the public.
  • Parking behind Corley Hall in the Mell Street Corridor is now marked as a permit lot. Parking lots on AG Hill and street spaces on Mell Street remain free and open to the public.

No. 9 Auburn kicks off the season against No. 6 Washington in Atlanta on Sept. 1 before taking on Alabama State on Sept. 8 in its first official home game at Jordan-Hare.
