Maddox, Hagan to visit Auburn area Monday night

Democratic governor candidate Walt Maddox and Democratic congressional candidate Mallory Hagan will speak in Auburn and Opelika tonight.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Walt Maddox and congressional candidate Mallory Hagan will be visiting the Auburn area on Monday night.

They will host a joint Lee County Rally and meet and greet at 1016 S. Railroad Ave. in Opelika, Alabama, at 6:30 p.m. as a part of Maddox’s statewide bus tour he kicked off Sept. 17. 

Hagan will also be speaking to the Auburn College Democrats at 6 p.m. in Haley Center Room 3166 before heading to the rally in Opelika. 

Maddox, the current mayor of Tuscaloosa, will face Gov. Kay Ivey in the gubernatorial election Nov. 6, while Hagan will face U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers in the congressional election Nov. 6.  

Hagan, a former Miss America and television news anchor, is the Democratic nominee for Alabama's 3rd Congressional District, which includes Auburn. 

The district encompasses all of Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Lee, Macon, Randolph, Russell, St. Clair, Talladega and Tallapoosa counties as well as parts of Montgomery County.

Both events are open to the public.
