Another Tiger is on his way out.
Junior wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers is leaving the Auburn football program with the intent to transfer, Rivals' Bryan Matthews reported Thursday afternoon. Sources notified The Plainsman of the possibility of Craig-Myers' departure on Wednesday. Head coach Gus Malzahn then confirmed it at Tiger Talk.
Craig-Myers' decision comes a day after starting tight end Jalen Harris announced via Twitter his decision to transfer out of the program.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Craig-Myers has two catches this season for 39 yards. True freshman Seth Williams, who was working behind Craig-Myers, is fourth on the team in receiving yards with 72.
Over the course of his three seasons, Craig-Myers had developed into Auburn's top blocking receiver, as well.
Craig-Myers, who finishes his career on The Plains with 22 catches for 394 yards and four scores, becomes the fifth Auburn player to leave Gus Malzahn's team this season, joining offensive lineman Tyler Carr, defensive back John Broussard Jr., punter Aidan Marshall and Harris.
Craig-Myers' half-brother, Jayvaughn Myers, is a sophomore reserve defensive back for Auburn.
Prior to this season, the NCAA implemented a rule which allows players to see action in up to four games without using a year of eligibility. If Craig-Myers, along with the other departed Tigers, find a new destination to continue their college football careers, their 2018 seasons with Auburn will be considered redshirt years, with the exception of Carr, who used his redshirt in 2015.
