Auburn man arrested on multiple charges

Auburn police arrested an Auburn man on multiple charges on Saturday.

Jamario Emanuel Mitchell, 25, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree theft of property, giving false information to a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Auburn police responded to a burglary in progress call at about 7 p.m. Saturday at an apartment complex in the 200 block of South Gay Street. 

Officers approached the residence and contacted Mitchell, who was exiting the apartment carrying property, according to an Auburn Police Division press release.

He was immediately detained and provided false identifying information to officers when questioned.

Once taken into custody, a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was discovered in his possession, according to Auburn police.

Mitchell was transported to the Lee County Jail. He was being held on a $7,000 bond, according to an Auburn Police Division press release.

The case remains under investigation and more charges are possible.
