Auburn police arrested a Georgia man Friday on warrants that originated from a sexual assault reported on April 16.
Isiah Emmanuel Smith, 22, of Midland, Georgia, was charged with first-degree rape and first degree sodomy.
The victim, a female juvenile, said she was sexually assaulted at a residence in Auburn, over a period of time, by a family acquaintance, according to an Auburn Police Division press release.
After an investigation, detectives identified Smith as the individual responsible, according to Auburn police. Police then obtained warrants.
Smith was taken into custody by Auburn police after waiving extradition back to Alabama.
He was taken to the Lee County Jail and was held at a $125,000 bond. Additional charges are anticipated as the case remains under investigation.
