Auburn University Campus Safety and Security sent an email alert to students Thursday, alerting them that police are investigating an assault that occurred early Thursday morning.
Police believe the assault was perpetrated by a man dressed in a fairy costume between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m.
The victim reported walking on West Magnolia Avenue near Momma Goldberg's when the man in the fairy costume approached him and punched him in the face. The victim suffered a broken jaw.
No further information is available at this time.
Campus Safety said students should be reminded of the following:
- Walk with a buddy or in a group.
- Stay alert to your surroundings.
- If you see suspicious activity or a person behaving suspiciously, notify police at 911 (emergencies or crimes in progress), 334-501-3100 (non-emergencies) or 334-246-1391 (tip line – text or call).
