Auburn police charge Montgomery man with attempted murder

A Montgomery man was charged with attempted murder in connection to shots fired inside an Auburn residence last month.

Dandre L. Brunson, 27, was arrested Wednesday by the Auburn Police Division after he was released from the Piedmont Columbus Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia, where he was treated for a gunshot wound, according to Auburn police.

On Nov. 13, Auburn police responded to the 300 block of Webster Road in reference to a complaint of shots being fired inside a residence.

Responding officers discovered Brunson with a gunshot wound, and he was immediately transported to Piedmont Columbus Midtown Medical Center for treatment, according to a press statement from police.

"The investigation determined that Brunson fired several times at a female acquaintance before shooting himself. The female victim was not injured," the statement read.

Brunson was treated at the hospital and released in "satisfactory condition," according to police.

Brunson was taken to the Lee County Jail and is eligible for a $75,000 bond.
