Auburn woman charged with theft of more than $50,000

An Auburn woman, who was a former human resource manager at an automotive supplier in the area, was charged in connection to the felony theft of more than $50,000 from the business.

Tammy D. Harris, 48, was charged and arrested on Wednesday by the Auburn Police Division. Harris is charged with first-degree theft of property. 

Arkal Automotive, an automotive supplier located on Innovation Drive, reported the theft following an internal audit. Harris was formerly employed there and was developed as a suspect by police.

"Further investigation revealed that Harris had fraudulently obtained and deposited over $50,000 in company funds into various personal accounts while employed with the company," read a statement from police.

Harris was taken to the Lee County Jail and was booked on a $5,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division.
