Suspect in Aniah Blanchard case arrested in Florida

The suspect wanted in the missing person case of Aniah Blanchard was arrested in Florida on Friday.

Ibraheem Yazeed, 30, was taken into custody in Pensacola, Florida, at approximately 11 p.m. on Nov. 7, according to the Auburn Police Division. Yazeed was booked in the Escambia County jail at 2:32 a.m. on Nov. 8, according to Escambia County's inmate search system.

The Escambia County Sheriff's office is charging Yazeed as an out-of-state fugitive. Yazeed is being held in the Escambia County Jail and is pending extradition to Lee County where he will be charged with first-degree kidnapping, police said.

Yazeed was out on bond for kidnapping and attempted murder charges from another jurisdiction, according to police.

Blanchard, 19, went missing on Wednesday, Oct. 23, according to the Auburn Police Division.

Police said an investigation and analysis of evidence determined that Yazeed was at the same location Blanchard was last seen and was involved in "taking Aniah against her will," police said on Nov. 7.

Days after Blanchard was last seen, her black, Honda CR-V was recovered at a Montgomery apartment complex on Oct. 25, about 55 miles from where the teen was last seen in Auburn.

Police said the vehicle had damage to the passenger side, and her family said the damage was not present prior to that day. On Oct. 31, police said they suspect foul play based on evidence recovered inside the vehicle.

Blanchard is described as a light-complexioned black female, 5-feet-six-inches tall and weighing about 125 pounds, according to police. She has brown eyes and brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a black dress, tan duck boots and black stockings, according to police.
