A North Carolina man was arrested on warrants charging him with second-degree rape and sodomy, according to the Auburn Police Division.
Kyrie Reshod King, 23, from Fayetteville, North Carolina, was arrested Sunday, police said.
The arrest stems from an investigation into a sexual assault that was reported to police on February 3, 2020.
The victim was a female juvenile and allegedly assaulted in Auburn, police said. Police said the suspect was a distant family member. Officials said they identified King as the individual responsible and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
King was arrested on March 2 in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He was taken into custody and held at the Cumberland County, North Carolina Jail to await an extradition hearing.
King then waived his extradition hearing back to Alabama and was taken into custody by the Auburn Police Division.
King is currently in the Lee County Jail and is being held on a $35,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division and Lee County Department of Human Resources.
