A Colorado-based automotive company is establishing manufacturing operations in Auburn, a move that is expected to create 300 jobs, according to a press release from the Alabama Department of Commerce.

The company, Wheel Pros, creates and distributes automotive aftermarket wheels, performance tires and accessories.

“This investment secures our position as a leader in our industry and provides us with full control of the entire manufacturing process, ensuring that our customers receive nothing but the best quality products,” said CEO and co-founder of Wheel Pros Randy White in the press release.

The company’s facility will be located in Auburn’s Technology Park North, where casting, machining and painting operations will take place. Production of casted aluminum wheels is set to begin in a few months, per the press release.

Moving into an already built facility is one of the benefits of the move, White said.

“This was the ideal opportunity for expansion — the manufacturing assets and experienced workers are already in place,” White said.

The investment by Wheel Pros was embraced by Gov. Kay Ivey.

“We welcome Wheel Pros to Alabama and congratulate them on choosing Auburn to establish their largest U.S. manufacturing presence," Ivey said. "This multimillion-dollar investment will add 300 new jobs and represents another feather in the cap of our state’s growing automotive industry."

Alabama produces some of the most automotive products in the union, ranking within the top five among all states, according to the Alabama Department of Commerce's website. Around 1 million cars and light-trucks were produced in Alabama in 2019, along with nearly 1.5 million engines.

The investment was also celebrated by Mayor Ron Anders.

“We look forward to the impact Wheel Pros will have on East Alabama at a perfect time,” Anders said. “We have a manufacturing facility and a workforce that are ready and more than able to meet the company’s needs. Wheel Pros’ arrival will bring more jobs to our community, which is great for our residents and our economy. We are grateful for Wheel Pros’ investment in our region.”
