Gov. Ivey has selected Auburn University Trustee Jimmy Rane to head up her reelection campaign for governor.
The Board of Trustees discussed Rane's appointment as campaign chairman and Ivey's reelection bid, both of which were announced on June 2, at their Friday morning meeting.
“I couldn’t recommend anybody for this position higher than Kay,” Rane said.
Rane, a 1968 Auburn University alumnus in business administration and CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving, has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 1999. As governor, Ivey serves as president of the Board of Trustees, but was not present at the meeting on Friday.
Rane and Ivey, a 1967 Auburn alumna, have ties going back to their time at the University.
“Kay and I were classmates here at Auburn together, 50-some-odd years ago, and we were both actively involved in the student government,” Rane said. “I have never met an individual in my life that has devoted her entire life to serving public service. She is just as committed today as she was way back there at Auburn in the early days.”
Rane previously served as chair of Ivey’s inauguration committee in the 2018 election.
“Our state is in really good hands, as you know we’ve had a very successful four years,” Rane said.
