Rock N' Roll Sushi opened in 2015 in downtown Auburn.

The popular restaurant, Rock N’ Roll Sushi in downtown Auburn, has permanently closed.

Established in Mobile, Alabama in 2010, Rock N’ Roll Sushi started to grow across Alabama and the United States, serving sushi rolls and hibachi-style food named after rock music topics. Some popular fan-favorite rolls are the “Thriller”, “VIP” and “Tour Bus”

Located in the heart of downtown Auburn, Rock N’ Roll Sushi became a popular go-to restaurant for many since 2015.

On Oct. 1, the  music-themed chain announced on Facebook that they were closing.

“With great sadness we regret to inform you Sunday Oct. 3rd will be our last day to serve you Sushi in Auburn," the post said. "Auburn we will miss you. Thank you for the some really great times!! We love you Auburn".

Comments on this post flooded in with sadness and questions about the closing from locals, students and visitors.

Caroline Trebino, sophomore in public relations was one of many students upset about the recent closing.

“My first thought when I heard that they were closing was, I’m really going to miss this sushi," Trebino said. "It is sad that they are closing because it was one of my favorite restaurants in Auburn”.

Trent Searles, sophomore in agricultural business, said it was the best sushi he had in Auburn.

“Thank you for giving me good sushi in Auburn, Alabama,” Trebino said. “Can you please open back up?”

Rock N’ Roll Sushi replied with answers centered on COVID-19. Sales have substantially gone down in the past 12 months for the business and staff has been limited. The popular food chain unfortunately will not be reopening due to these obstacles.
