Auburn students plan fall break festivities for Oct. 13.

With the excitement of October's arrival, there are so many things to look forward to. Colder weather, warmer clothing and of course, the thrills of Halloween.

One thing that takes place amidst the thrill of October, is fall break. Occurring on Friday, Oct. 13, it is something that students look forward to every year. Fall break is something that students look forward to every year as comfort after midterms.

This time of year can be hectic, as students might finally have their schedules memorized, but the workload might start piling up. Students may also be finding it difficult to balance everything going on in their lives. Luckily, breaks like these can be used to recharge, relax or have fun.

These are Auburn student's plans for the up-and-coming fall break.

Meg Morris, junior in accounting, not so sure about her plans said, "I might go home or I might stay in Auburn."

Other Auburn students with traveling plans, also wanted to share their thoughts.

"I'm planning on going to a lake house with some of my friends," Emma Bell, junior in apparel merchandise said.

Kaitlyn Reed, sophomore in mechanical engineering, also had some fun fall break plans lined up.

"For fall break I am going back to my hometown to see some of my old friends and spend time with my family. We usually do fun things like ride four wheelers and have a bonfire, Reed said.

With some similar outdoors itinerary, Alora Jones, junior in wildlife ecology and management, is going to enjoy her break out in nature.

"I’m visiting my boyfriend's family and hopefully hiking some of the trails up in Huntsville," Jones said.

Kendall Anderson, sophomore in wildlife sciences pre-veterinary, is using this break to take a trip back home.

"This year for fall break I am going home to Charleston with a group of my sorority friends and we are going to sightsee, shop and I am going to show them all the places that were special to me growing up," Anderson said.

For some people, deciding to focus on the fun aspects of the break have made some exciting plans. Others are doing the same, but are also using this break to take a step back, and evaluate their mental health.

Zoey Arrington, freshman in business management, wanted to give her take on the importance of taking time for mental health and how she handles it.

"So for me, surrounding myself with family is definitely how I take care of my mental health because it’s a nice break from the chaos school can feel like, and they refuel me in a positive way," Arrington said.

While prioritizing her mental health, she is also finding a way to touch base and reconnect with people back home.

"I’m just gonna be hanging out with my friends. Probably going to our favorite restaurant back home and having a group sleepover, stuff like that. Just doing things we would do if we were all still together probably," said Arrington.
