Despite a thrilling start to the series on Friday, Auburn softball suffered three losses against No. 5 Texas A&M this past weekend at Jane B. Moore Field. The three losses take the Tigers to 0-6 in conference play and extend their losing streak to seven.
“We tried to make some adjustments at the plate. We felt like we stayed with what we were looking for. When we got it, we went for it. We just didn’t have the results whether it was hard groundouts or fly balls. We couldn’t line it up enough. We couldn’t get it to fall,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux after the series finale loss on Sunday.
Friday: Auburn 4, Texas A&M 5
The Tigers opened the series Friday night, starting the game out with an early lead in the first thanks to a base-clearing triple from Amelia Lech. This didn’t come without a fight from Texas A&M, the Aggies eventually scoring three unanswered, two runs in the fourth and one run in the sixth, to tie the game and send the contest into extra innings.
The Aggies came out swinging in the top of the eighth, scoring two runs and putting them at a 5-3 lead. The Tigers weren’t going down without a fight, though, AnnaLea Adams hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to bring the score to 5-4. With the tying run on base, the Tigers fell short, giving the Aggies their first win of the weekend.
The highlights of the game for Auburn included Icess Tresvik’s first SEC start, pitching three scoreless innings and Adams’ two hits with her fourth homer of the season. The Tiger defense also shined through, staying strong throughout the entire game.

Saturday: Auburn 2, Texas A&M 13
The Tigers looked to bounce back on Saturday morning, but were plagued with multiple errors, leading the Aggies to score 12 unanswered runs in just five innings. Auburn gave up one run in the top of the first, instilling hope in the team when they answered with two runs in the latter half of the inning.
The bad luck started in the top of the second, with an error and three passed balls allowing the Aggies to score four unearned runs. They would continue to add to their lead throughout the game, scoring at least one run in every inning and scoring five in the fifth to secure the run-rule win.
The Tigers did have runners on base in most innings, but the bats went quiet when it came to bringing the runners home.
Sunday: Auburn 0, Texas A&M 3
The Tigers looked to avoid the sweep on Sunday afternoon, hoping the bats would be hot throughout the game. Walks hurt Auburn in the top of the first, allowing Texas A&M to load the bases, leading to Mac Barbara driving in two runs with a single to center. Scoring remained sparse for the team until one last run was scored in the final frame of the contest.
However, the Tigers didn’t have as much luck, accruing just one hit throughout the game and only four runners reaching base. Auburn was unable to produce any hits to bring runners home, leading to a shutout win for Texas A&M and completing the series sweep.

The Tigers finish out their home stand on Wednesday, March 19 with a midweek contest against South Alabama. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. with live coverage available on SEC Network+.
