Tradition: Swag Surf

For Auburn students, Swag Surf is a beloved tradition where fans will sway and “surf” along the beat of the iconic 2009 hip-hop hit song “Swag Surfin’” by Fast Life Yungstaz (F.L.Y.). Swag Surf is most iconic at home football games when the student section leads the stadium with its infectious energy. As lights dim and the Tigers enter the fourth quarter, Jordan-Hare transforms into an orange and blue sea of surfing Auburn Family members. Now transcending past stadium walls, Swag Surf is integral to campus culture and fosters community at student events, club sports games and Camp War Eagle pep rallies. The Spirit of Auburn lives through the Auburn community, and as Swag Surf helps cultivate relationships, the Auburn Family confidently says, “Here at Auburn, we Swag Surf and we love it!”

On-campus Dining: Hey Day

With over 30 on-campus dining options, Auburn students do not lack variety, yet Hey Day Market reigns supreme for its ambiance, charm and diverse cuisine. On the corner of Thach Avenue and South College Street, Hey Day Market is a multi-concept food hall and gathering place with indoor and outdoor seating. Catering to all food palates, Hey Day Market offers nine one-of-a-kind dining options that specialize in a specific cuisine, from classic American cheeseburgers and nutritional build-your-own bowls to Southern-California-style tacos and much more. Beyond food, residents can enjoy the unique dining experience, which includes rustic indoor seating, outdoor mini-golf and massive televisions for sports viewing. Whether residents are searching for a variety of food options or the perfect spot to watch a sports game, Hey Day Market offers something for everyone.

Student Event: Tipoff at Toomer’s

Tipoff at Toomer’s, the event marking the return of men’s and women’s basketball, made its highly anticipated return to Auburn in 2023. Initially on hiatus since 2021, its return resumes the annual festivities. This year, hundreds of fans gathered at Toomer’s Corner, which had been transformed into a main concert stage and raised basketball court. Tipoff included appearances from basketball coaches and players, and friendly competitions like dunking contests and Knockout. In addition to sports, Toomer’s Corner was lined with local vendors, and the joyous night concluded with a live performance by award-winning and multi-platinum country music artist Cole Swindell.
