Malcolm Simmons has been reported to plan to enter the transfer portal leaving the Auburn Tigers following the disappointing 2025 football season. Simmons put together a solid 457 yards on 25 receptions and two touchdowns in his sophomore season this past year on the plains. He was originally part of the wide receiver recruiting class that Auburn brought in 2024 known as the "Freeze Four" including Cam Coleman, Bryce Cain, Perry Thompson, and himself.
Simmons would end up finishing his two seasons with Auburn nearly identical production to each other totaling 908 yards and five touchdowns all together along with 102 return yards. Simmons will certainly be a tough loss for the Tigers as he brought much to the table not only as a receiver but also as a kick returner. New head coach Alex Golesh and his staff will likely have to continue to adjust to the losses that come with a coaching change like this and find ways moving forward to continue to strengthen the roster despite the changes that will inevitably continue to happen.
