At Auburn University’s Yarborough Tennis Courts, tennis balls zip around all day long. But not every ball comes off a racket—some are launched by a robot constructed just minutes away. Tennibot, founded by Auburn University graduates and still based on the Plains, conducts much of its product testing on the courts. Although Tennibot remains local, its challenges have become increasingly global as the company navigates a rapidly changing tariff landscape and complex international legal disputes. Despite the worldwide market headwinds it faces, Tennibot sees itself becoming integral to the lives of millions of tennis and pickleball players.

On April 15, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed Senate Bill 252, the Community Pharmacy Relief Act, into law. As previously reported by The Plainsman, the bill was a compromise between competing bills and was decided on and introduced in February. Before its introduction, the need for legislation curtailing the power of pharmacy benefit managers—or PBMs—was the subject of a protracted debate.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, 112 pharmacies across Alabama closed to express support for Senate Bill 93 in the Alabama legislature. While no pharmacies in the Auburn–Opelika area walked out, many aimed to support the bill in other ways, like displaying black bows or balloons. Bubba's Medicine Shop in Opelika turned off their phones for an hour and a half and set a message expressing support for the bill. Jim's Drugs in Dadeville and Beauregard Drugs are the nearest pharmacies that closed.
