Tiger Dining recently announced Plains to Plate, a locally sourced farm-to-table restaurant located in central campus, is now certified gluten-free and is the first retail concept on a college campus to achieve a Gluten-Free Food Service, or GFFS, certification, according to a University release.

The Rec Center makes changes to their group fitness schedules each semester based on popularity and class attendance, and these changes are largely in the hands of students. Annie Sauer, Auburn rec group fitness instructor, said student instructors and group fitness attendees play a huge roll in the schedules. “Group fitness class schedules change every semester, partly because our instructors are students whose academic class schedules change each semester as well,” Sauer said. Sauer said she does not know which classes are most popular at the moment because they look at attendance at the end of each semester and makes changes accordingly. “We track attendance numbers for all of our classes,” Sauer said.

The University offers a service called QPR training to help prevent suicide on campuses.It teaches people to recognize the signs of depression and suicidal thoughts, according to Eric Smith, director of Health Promotion and Wellness Services.
Trey Fields, executive vice president of initiatives, addressed SGA senate on April 4 to seek senators’ input on the possibility of new additions to Tiger Dining with options such as Einstein’s Bagels and Panera Bread. In planning the dining options for the Mell Street classroom, the university considered Einstein’s Bagels upon students’ requests before being approached by Panera Bread, according to Fields. “Recently, Glenn Loughridge, who’s the director of dining for the university...he was approached by Panera Bread to be on the campus in some form, so that’s kind of a dynamic option.” Fields said. Fields said while it would be natural to consider Panera for the Mell Street dining, he is concerned about taking students’ wishes into consideration. “So, a problem with that in our eyes is...that Einstein’s was voted on by the student body and overwhelmingly picked that,” Fields said.
Screams and boos could be heard from Auburn students as the University Program Council announced the 2016 Airwaves concert would be canceled because of severe weather. The concert featured Natalie La Rose, Lil Jon and Rae Sremmurd and was held in the Ag Heritage Park.
The University will host a design charrette March 30-April 2 at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center to select the architectural firms for the new performing arts center, while fundraising for the project continues, according to a University press release. A design charrette is an intensive design session in which architects come together to collaborate on a design vision for a specific project, said University Architect Jim Carroll. “We are going to bring in five local architectural firms and four national architectural firms to take part in this intensive four-day design process,” Carroll said.

According to a PhD student in the school of forestry and wildlife sciences, Shree Sharma Dangal, the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences organized this event to commemorate the United Nations global celebration on the importance of forest.
