Reading for Impact, the new club on campus

There’s a new organization on campus. Reading for Impact is a student organization that teaches and helps improve the Auburn-Opelika community’s literacy. Members are dedicated to “building connections through reading, empowering individuals with literacy skills and providing access to books and educational support, ultimately enriching lives through the power of literacy."

International Culture Café: Thanksgiving Pies

On Nov. 20, 2024, the International Cultural Center hosted an International Culture Café in the Foy Hall lobby, serving students some of the traditional foods of an American Thanksgiving. The International Cultural Center is a program for international students that helps them acclimate to life in the United States and provides them with academic resources, intercultural competency and experiences.

Tipoff at Toomer’s returns to the Plains

On October 17, Tipoff at Toomer’s marked the highly anticipated beginning of Auburn University’s men’s and women’s basketball seasons. The event made its long-awaited return to the Plains since its last appearance three years ago in 2021. This year, Tipoff at Toomers expanded to include more festivities, including a marketplace and a live music performance by popular country music artist Cole Swindell.

Introducing the Native American and Indigenous Alliance

The Native American and Indigenous Alliance hosted a cultural immersion event on Cater Lawn. The event was held as a part of the First 56, a student organization that hosts events the first 56 days of the school year. The event took place on Thursday, Oct. 3, and highlighted several Native American and Indigenous groups, such as the Mississippi Choctaw, and featured speakers there representing Mayan Indians and Indigenous Africans.
