As Auburn University’s men’s basketball team prepares for its second Final Four appearance in program history, local businesses anticipate the excitement and are already preparing for a busy night in Auburn. As Auburn fans’ game-watching locations are being planned, several special deals will be running for those who want to enjoy food and drinks in truly electric atmospheres with each other.

EAGLES and WINGS programs are set on success

At Auburn University, the EAGLES program provides students with developmental and intellectual disabilities life-changing opportunities to work towards independence. In its work with WINGS, both groups of students learn to work together and thrive across campus and beyond. The EAGLES program is growing and, with the help of WINGS peer mentors, helping all of its students take flight.

Lighting up Auburn for the holidays: The 2024 Holiday Lighting Ceremony

On Dec. 1, the annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony took place on Samford lawn. The ceremony blended Christmas and Hanukkah traditions, bringing the Auburn community together over warm refreshments, holiday-themed crafts and vocal performances. Hosted by the city of Auburn and Auburn University, the event was staffed by Auburn University’s United Program Council (UPC) and Jewish student organization Hillel. The evening concluded with the highly anticipated lighting of the Christmas tree and menorah.

Baking up a Business: Stinson Breads

For Anna Claire and Matthew Stinson, the owners of Stinson Breads, creating and running a bakery is all about bringing high-quality, European-style bread culture to Opelika in a hospitable environment. Located in historic downtown Opelika, Stinson Breads opened its bakery doors to the public earlier this year in late April.

Tipoff at Toomer’s returns to the Plains

On October 17, Tipoff at Toomer’s marked the highly anticipated beginning of Auburn University’s men’s and women’s basketball seasons. The event made its long-awaited return to the Plains since its last appearance three years ago in 2021. This year, Tipoff at Toomers expanded to include more festivities, including a marketplace and a live music performance by popular country music artist Cole Swindell.
