The FBI agents investigating the Carmike theater bomb threat now have a suspect they say made the phone calls to the cinema chain's headquarters.

Carmike Cinemas' director of marketing, Terrell Mayton, said the investigators told theater officials the suspect is no longer a threat and asked that they withhold the name of the suspect.

"The thing that's most important here is that the individual has been identified and things are moving forward through the law enforcement process," said Mayton. "We want our guests to know that they're safe and being well-taken care of."

On Aug. 16, a voicemail message was left at the Columbus, Ga. headquarters of Carmike, claiming explosives had been placed at various Carmike owned and affiliated theaters throughout the country.

The next morning Carmikes around the country, of which there are more than 200, were searched including Auburn's theater. The Wynnsong 16 was searched by a K9 unit last Friday, Aug. 17 and nothing dangerous was found. No signs of bombs or foul play were found at any of Carmike's theaters.

The FBI office in Columbus is still investigating the case, which remains open.
