Tigers drop SEC Tournament with loss to No. 6 Florida

After the Tiger’s showed potential in holding out through two rounds of the SEC Tournament, only losing to No. 1 LSU by one point, Auburn was unable to hold out facing No. 6 Florida. The Tigers fell 11-2.

The game stayed scoreless for both teams until the top of the second gave a sac fly run to Florida, who clutched the lead 1-0. After Auburn was unable to answer, Florida’s offense took control and brought in a total of eight runs in the top of the third inning alone.

The Tigers were able to grab a run in the fourth, cutting down the score, but not by much, for a 9-1 game.

Florida then continued its quality at bat and threatened the Tigers with the run rule to end the game early, but Auburn clutched one more run to cut the score even more, 11-2.

It was downhill from then as the game became a defensive battle with no runs for either team, and the final stood at 11-2.

With this loss, the Tigers have been eliminated from the SEC Tournament and will wait to see if they make it to the NCAA Regional at the selection show Monday, May 24 at 11 a.m.
