Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson, who is widely regarded as the best defensive player on Auburn's roster—and a potential high choice in the 2016 NFL Draft—will return to Auburn for his junior season, according to a tweet Lawson sent out Wednesday.

Lawson finished with just 20 tackles and a single sack in 2015, but he suffered an injury in the second half of the season opener against Louisville and didn't return until Oct. 31 against Ole Miss.
Auburn has not officially confirmed whether or not Lawson will return, but underclassmen have until Jan. 15 to declare for the NFL Draft.
He will anchor a defense that is going through its third defensive coordinator in three years, following the departure of Will Muschamp and the arrival of Kevin Steele.
