The No. 21 Auburn women's soccer team (2-0-2, 0-0-0) beat the Kennesaw State University Owls Friday night, 3-1.
The first half belonged to the Tigers.
Senior midfielder Jenni Prescott opened up the scoring at the 29:10 mark of the first half with the assist going to sophomore midfielder Katy Frierson.
"It felt great to get the goal, I've been working hard this season to get the ball in the back of the net," Prescott said.
Auburn took a 1-0 lead into the half.
KSU came out in the second half and tied the score at one on a Jade Dempster goal at the 56:45 mark.
Head Coach Karen Hoppa said the team played well and was pleased with the result. But "we weren't happy with how tight the game got in the second half."
The Owls would not find the back of the net again during the night. The Tigers, however, would put two more past the KSU keeper.
Senior forward Stephanie Fransoso broke the tie four minutes later after a crossing pass from sophomore defender Heather Havron.
The Tigers' final goal came by way of a penalty kick.
Frierson drew a foul in the KSU keeper's box and senior forward Caitlin King capitalized on the PK.
Friday's game is the second win in a row for the Tigers and second with three goals.
"We've been practicing hard to get where we are, but our offense needs to get better, and it will get better," Prescott said.
