The Bank Trust branch on North Dean Road was robbed Wednesday afternoon.
An Auburn Police Department police report said the suspect was armed with a semi-automatic handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
Captain Tom Stofer of the APD said the suspect's identity is not known.
The Auburn Police Department responded to the robbery call at approximately 3:39 p.m., but the suspect had already left the scene.
There were no injuries reported, according to the APD press release.
An APD police report described the suspect as a black male in his early 30s with a short beard. He was also described as being approximately 6 feet tall and 180 pounds.
Bank robbery is a felony, Stofer said. Stofer also said because this incident involved a handgun, the suspect may face 20 years to a life sentence in prison.
A Bank Trust representative declined to comment.
